My
Philosopy Since I was a child I knew I wanted to become an artist, but also share my knowledge with others by teaching them my skills. My biggest inspiration to become a teacher is my grandmother. She was a kindergarten teacher; one of the first ones in her community. She is a lovely and patient person that taught me that you have to make all things with love and passion. She made a big impact in my life by showing me that being a teacher means you can be a mentor, a confidant and a friend. She gave me the support that I needed to keep working towards achieving my dreams. I’m the first person in my family to receive a Bachelor's degree and now I want to become a teacher because I have the desire to help those around me. I want to make an invaluable contribution and impact their lives to help them reach their goals. Art helped me to create and find my own identity. Being Mexican-American means that I love mixing and infusing media in the same way that my culture is a mixture of two countries.

Classroom Environment
In my classroom, I want to create a relaxing, but active atmosphere while learning. I think it is important to have a space where students have fun, learn, and feel safe to thrive their artistic education. To achieve a relaxing atmosphere, music will be played during class and I plan to greet everyone to create a more close relationship and engage more with my students. My intention is for them to be active learners with learning games such as lottery games with art images, trivia questions, and vocabulary words about art movements at the start of each class. |
Community
My students will be encouraged to express their own ideas and participate with the community. I will encourage them to engage with it in a meaningful cultural way. I would like to create a Saturday Art Community where students can participate by painting murals with memorable stories of their life, local history, and people with the guidance of guest artists. This project will increase pride, not only for the students, but also for the community and will help students to engage with artists. Since technology is part of students’ everyday lives, I would explore the use of social media as a way to keep students involved in their school work and community. My biggest goal is for my students to continue learning and share with others what they learned. |
